What type of flooring do you install?
We install just about any kind of hard surface you can think of–solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank or tile, ceramic and porcelain tile, glass tile, natural stone, laminate, sheet vinyl, and VCT (vinyl composition tile). We also install carpet tile on occasion.
We do not install carpet but there are qualified professionals in the area that can.
Do you offer any services besides flooring?
Yes; we install tile on backsplashes and in showers. We also do trimwork.
Can I buy flooring or tile from you?
While we do not keep any kind of material stocked, we are happy to help you select the product that best fits your needs. Not all material is the same quality, nor is it appropriate for every setting. Big box stores tend to carry seconds and other lower quality materials, and the savings on price is negligible. We have relationships with many high quality suppliers in the area, such as Emser Tile, Thomas Brick, and Daltile.
What kind of flooring is the best?
Flooring options have greatly expanded, and continue to do so! The best kind of flooring for your home depends on what your needs are. Some questions to consider: How long do you expect it to last? Do you have pets? What is your budget? How much maintenance will it require? Are you selling your home soon?
We are happy to help you explore your options so that you can choose the flooring that is best suited to your needs.
How long will it take?
It depends on the scope of your project. We do our best to give you an estimated time for completion once the details of the project are determined.
Do you refinish hardwood floors?
No we do not, but we will be happy to recommend a professional who can.
How dusty or dirty will my house get?
A clean, orderly, and safe jobsite is a top priority, both for the customer’s sake and ours. Prudent Floors utilizes best dust containment practices to reduce the amount of dust and detritus as much as possible. We cover and protect adjoining surfaces, use thick poly walls to partition off the work area if possible, and use high performance vacuums. While no job can be 100% free of dust, we strive to keep your house as clean as possible throughout your project.
What can we do to prepare our home for a smooth installation?
Some of the standard preparations a homeowner can make include removing breakables and wall art from the work area (especially if grinders or other vibration causing equipment will be used) and to move furniture, rugs, or other items on the floor. We are happy to assist in moving bulky furniture such as a couch or kitchen table if you let us know ahead of time, but we do not touch electronics of any kind (including TVs).
We always do our best to plan the least disruptive avenue of work as possible. If you have any specific concerns, please feel free to bring them up so they can be addressed before your project begins.
What is the best way to care for my new floor?
Different types of flooring require different kinds of care. Most flooring manufacturers have specific recommendations which we can provide in print or via email.
